Aortic arches
Summary
Description
This animation begins with blood circulation in a 28-day-old embryo, as viewed in profile under low magnification. The diagram presents an anterior view of the segment under higher magnification. After elimination of the heart, the animation shows the evolution of the aortic arches from a 28-day-old embryo to a 9-week-old fetus. A summary diagram provides the component origins and derivatives of the embryonic aortic-arch system.
The animation concludes with non-animated malformations of the aortic arches compared with normally developed ones (e.g.... (more)

After elimination of the heart, the animation shows the evolution of the aortic arches from a 28-day-old embryo to a 9-week-old fetus. A summary diagram provides the component origins and derivatives of the embryonic aortic-arch system.
The animation concludes with non-animated malformations of the aortic arches compared with normally developed ones (e.g. patent ductus arteriosus, coarctation of the aorta, abnormal origin of the right subclavian artery, double aortic arch, right aortic arch, absence of common carotid arteries and interrupted aortic arch).
In order to explain the origin of the aortic arches in mammals, the sequence also includes structure, blood circulation in the aortic arches and seawater circulation between them in a shark.
(This animation is essential for students of medicine, stomatology, veterinary medicine, and biology; it is also recommended for departments of cardiology, cardiac and pediatric surgery, as well as pediatrics).
